Using SmartBook and Connect as a core part of your teaching approach yields proven improvements in student outcomes
Over the past few years, we've been working with instructors and institutions across our region to establish the efficacy of Connect and Smartbook in improving outcomes. As a result, we've learned from them and shared best practices on how they get the most out of the resources. A recurring theme has been student motivation and engagement and how Connect supports both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation in a kind of virtuous circle.
We've been delighted to discover that when strategically incentivised to ensure engagement, revision and practice in Connect correlate consistently with higher grades.

What instructors tell us...

- Connect works as an extra pair of hands and eyes, helping instructors to keep track of individuals even within large cohorts.
- The high-quality teaching and learning resources in Connect can relieve the burden on the instructor to constantly teach the basics - freeing them up to teach higher-level concepts, utilise their professional and subject expertise, and excite and engage students with the subject through deeper exploration and application.
- Connect easily facilitates continuous assessment, enabling instructors to carry out remediation activities and spot those most at risk of failing or dropping out.
- Connect can also be used for end-of-module assessments, either remote or on campus - saving instructors huge amounts of administration and marking time; also, with tools to eliminate cheating such as algorithmic questions and proctoring software.
- McGraw Hill academic consultants work with instructors to set Connect up effectively and in a way that serves their exact requirements. We don't just sell you a solution and walk away.
